Dietary advice and information about healthy food choices 

Many people attend this clinic to obtain a personal weight loss programme and develop healthy eating habits. You may self refer to this clinic or ask your General Practitioner for a referral.

What happens at the clinic?
Your first consultation involves an assessment taking height, weight and an assessment of your current diet.  From this, goals will be developed including establishing new dietary choices.  Education and advice accompanies this.  You will have regular appointments to track your goals and provide the support to make changes.

  • Weight reduction strategies via diet
  • Elimination diets to test for food intolerances
  • Education on establishing a nutritionally adequate diet in consideration of dietary constraints – allergies/intolerances
  • Sports nutrition
  • Advice on managing gastrointestinal complaints via diet
  • Nutrition for children
  • Advice for diabetics regarding diet
  • Dietary advice for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
  • Referral to other Hastings Health Centre services, particularly the Green Prescription clinic and Diabetes Service

Who manages the clinic?
Kay Ward trained in Aberdeen Scotland and worked in England prior to obtaining her NZ registration whilst working in Waikato. Kay initially worked in the public hospital system and then moved to public health whilst raising her family. Recently she moved to Hawke's Bay to take advantage of the great lifestyle that is offered here.

Appointments
Appointments are available every Tuesday.
