Skills/experience
I was born and raised in Hastings, and had my first job at Hastings Hospital when I was 14! I studied Medicine at Otago University and later worked in Wellington, Auckland and Whangarei.
I did my general practice training in England, before returning to Hastings to take over the practice of the late Dr Bardin in 1976. The practice operated from Southland Road for many years, until the opening of The Hastings Health Centre in 2002.
I practiced obstetrics for 25 years and gave this up, with some sadness, on turning 50. In that time, I delivered more than 1000 babies.
For me, the joy of general practice is the enduring friendships that are formed between myself and my patients. I am privileged to become a part of the lives of many people and families. This continuing relationship is fundamental to the trust and communication that is essential for dealing with health problems and keeping people fit and healthy.

Home Life
With wife Margaret, a Hastings District Councillor, I have two adult children and enjoy gardening, choral singing, movies, walking and fitness training. I am a former Board of Trustees Chairman of the Hastings Boys High School and continue to take a keen interest in the education and welfare of the youth of Hastings.
