Skills/experience
I am originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland and completed my medical studies in Dundee, Scotland.  After graduating in 1990, I worked in a wide range of hospital specialities throughout Scotland including almost a year in the Highland Hospice in Inverness.

For thirteen years I was a partner in a rural practice in Pitlochry at the foot of the Scottish Highlands.  My work encompassed the full range of general practice including minor surgery.  I am passionate about providing the highest quality family medicine.  I am also enthusiastic about the primary prevention of heart disease and strokes.

Trained and experienced in pre-hospital trauma, I regularly provided medical cover for equestrian events and race meetings in Scotland as well as being called to attend road accidents and other life-threatening emergencies. For nine years I was an approved GP Trainer, training GP Registrars, and I was frequently involved in under-graduate teaching.

Home Life
I am married to Elizabeth and we have two wonderful kids.  Elizabeth trained as a nurse and worked in our local school in Pitlochry, in health education and promotion.

My son and I are both qualified PADI divers and I am a keen cyclist.  I enjoy all outdoor pursuits and hope to get back into sailing in Hawke’s Bay.

I am very excited about the opportunity of developing my practice in Hastings and we look forward to enjoying everything that makes Hawke’s Bay
