Senior Leadership Team

The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at The Hastings Health Centre support the Chief Executive to ensure our enrolled patient population and visitors to our Urgent Care department receive high quality clinical care.  Their work includes day to day management of our staff, ensuring quality and health and safety standards are met, directing innovation, staff recruitment and liaising with key stakeholders including our patients, the PHO and DHB.

Dr. Andrew Heslop

Clinical Director

GP Registrar Trainer and Clinical Senior Lecturer at Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Providing care to all members of the family is what Andrew enjoys most about general practice.  Before studying medicine at Edinburgh University, Andrew spent a year abroad working as a teacher in Zimbabwe.  In later years, after moving to New Zealand, he would get to follow his passion for teaching but this time as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Wellington School of Medicine.  “I am passionate about medical education, teaching registrars, training interns and house officers” – all of which is done at the Hastings Health Centre.

Andrew Lesperance

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Having worked in both the public and private health sectors, Andrew brings to the Hastings Heath Centre an in depth knowledge of the health industry. His experience is underpinned by professional clinical training in Cardiology and Intensive Care areas as well as a sound track record in senior public hospital financial management and executive leadership roles.  Andrew brings a real enthusiasm for high quality innovative health services to Hastings Health Centre as well as a passion for population health improvement.

When Andrew is not at work, he is out with his family enjoying the many great walks of New Zealand.

Fiona Gee

Fiona is the Finance Manager at The Hastings Health Centre.  She comes from a background in auditing and financial services, and has been with the Health Centre for 12 years, and progressed into the role of Finance Manager.

In her spare time Fiona is kept busy with outdoor activities and cheering her four teenage children on at their representative sporting commitments.

Marie Beattie

Marie was born and bred in Hawkes Bay and has a raft of experience in both primary and secondary services in the region. Marie uses the education and knowledge gained from experience in clinical and professional roles in the health sector to carry out her position as Clinical Services Manager.

With a passion for the health of populations her focus is on ensuring patients are able to access and receive a superior high quality service at The Hastings Health Centre.

When not at work Marie enjoys spending time with her three gorgeous granddaughters or walking one of the many tracks on Te Mata Peak.

Sophia Roydhouse-Ross

Sophia is the Support Services Manager at The Hastings Health Centre and has direct line management responsibilities for all front line receptionists.  Her aim is to lead and inspire a customer friendly, supportive and professional team who deliver exceptional customer service to our patients.  She is responsible for HR management, recruitment, quality improvement and complaint and incident management for this team.  All receptionists at HHC work in an incredibly busy and demanding environment supporting their doctors and nurses with the shared aim of providing patients with the best health care possible.
